The Medair Relief and Recovery Orientation Course (ROC) is an intensive seven-day field training course that takes place several times a year, usually in Europe or the USA. The closing date for ROC applications is normally five weeks before each ROC starts.
How much does the ROC cost?
The ROC costs EUR 500 when held in Europe or USD 750 in the United States. The ROC fee covers accommodation and meals for seven days, but the course itself is provided free of charge by Medair.
If you have less than 12 months of relevant humanitarian or development work experience, Medair will ask you to pay 100 percent of the ROC accommodation and meals cost, as well as your personal travel costs.
However, if you have 12 months or more of relevant humanitarian or development work experience, Medair will subsidise your ROC accommodation and meals, as well as your personal travel costs by at least 50 percent.
The ROC fee must be paid within five days of receiving your confirmation of attendance. ROC fees are non-refundable, apart from exceptional cases and with a minimum of three weeks’ notice. Participants are responsible for their own travel costs to and from the ROC.
