On Saturday, 25 April, Nepal was struck by a massive, 7.8-magnitude earthquake, killing more than 8,600 people and injuring more than 16,500 people. Within 48 hours, our Emergency Response Team was on the ground assessing the needs and determining how we could best meet them. Two weeks later, a second 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck the country, leaving survivors even more vulnerable and scared.
Together with our partners on the ground, our Emergency Response Team is responding to people’s most urgent needs. We are providing essential household and shelter relief items to 8,000 families, as well as emergency health kits to the region that are expected to help 30,000 people in the coming months.
With the monsoon season rapidly approaching, it is a race against the clock to ensure that the most vulnerable people have the life-saving relief they desperately need.
